Dining in Schools

Working with Brackenhill Design for the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership (NYBEP) I filmed in 4 schools to create case studies about improvements made to dining rooms and the staff and pupils experiences of them, as part of a Department of Health programme.

These videos showcased the problems faced by the schools, and also the successes they achieved through hard work and the help of parents, local authorities and their extended communities. They were shown at a conference put on by the Department of Health, and are intended to be used as a tool for sharing best practice.

We filmed in a mixture of primary and secondary schools, interviewing the headteachers, the teachers in charge of the dining room improvements, other staff who helped, and pupils as they were using the new dining rooms.

It was revealing to hear the enthusiasm of everyone we interviewed about the improvements they had made and the feelings of pride and satisfaction which they felt for ‘their’ dining rooms.
