Relate-Teen

I worked with Miles Salter a creative writer on this project to help a group of four teenagers to tell their story of how Relate counselling had helped them through their parents separation. Over the course of seven three-hour sessions, each wrote their own story, and then sourced images and some video footage to use to use alongside their own narration to create their film.

With the nature of the stories they were telling, we had to be very aware of the impact it might have on the participants. A counsellor from Relate was at each session to help out in this respect. We also made sure that each session was fun and not too intense, allowing them to feel comfortable in telling their stories. The four members of the group were very articulate, confident and honest in telling their stories and are hopefully very proud of the finished films.

This was initially a pilot project, and with the overwhelming success of it and positive feedback, hopefully it will be repeated. A DVD has been created.

You can view the films on their Blog: Relate-Teen
